About

This Notebook covers Salia Koroma and his oeuvre, a Salia Koroma Vector, if you will. Salia Koroma, if you didn’t know, isn’t for everyone; he’s definitely an acquired taste, and a very discriminating one at that! This Notebook attempts to tell our own story, from our perspective, in our own voice, and there isn’t a better vehicle toward this aim than Salia.

**(This is nikiibu notebook and not nikiibu’s notebook in the same way that the Chicago Tribune isn’t the Chicago’s Tribune. )

With regard to Comments: don’t forget to leave your feedback: constructive comments, critiques, suggestions and the like. Let’s make this an adult conversation. Your scorn and ridicule, though, you can keep to yourself.

One more thing: This Notebook isn’t a bazaar. If you’re flogging some cr@p,  go somewhere else. Better yet, get your own site. Your spam won’t appear.

If you’re here by chance, like what you see, and happen to return, consider yourself among the Happy Few.

  1. I saw a posting online that led me to your youtube account and found the seemingly wonderful work you have been engaged in. I say seemingly because I hurriedly flicked through six or seven Salia pieces and observed that you have translated lyrics to accompany the songs. I think that is great and look forward to “finally” getting a flavor of the lyrics of a revered Sierra Leonean musical artist. No doubt I shall be in touch again with comments, or more likely questions, when I’ve had a chance to listen (and read) attentively.

    • Thanks for the comment, Les. I’ll do my best to respond to your questions; where I’m out of my depths I’ll call on wiser heads.
      All the best,
      nikiibu

  2. PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CONTACT. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FOR SALIA’S INTERVIEW PLUS MOST OF HIS SONGS. I ALSO HAVE GOOD MATERIALS YOU WILL LIKE

  3. Joseph Bockarie

I am ever grateful to you for preserving this legacy. The likes of Salia Koroma may never emerge in my lifetime. But one thing for sure, I will ever cherish his music.

    • Salia Koroma was a rare gem, Joseph. It’s now our collective duty (mine, yours, that of any one else who appreciates and cherishes his artistic insight) to keep his legacy going and flourishing. Long may he live!

I don’t even know how I got to this site but thank goodness I happened upon it. And I am very impressed. All I keep saying to myself is “WOW”. The songs just bring so many memories. I love this. Its been some years since I last went home and getting home sick these days a lot. On my day off today I decided to just search online for anything Sierra Leonean and I found this. You are doing a great job and I will be following.
