1912-2012: A Centenary of Accordion Music

A hundred years ago this year, a stubborn father in a corner of Mende country, rather bitter at  British colonialism for the dismantling of the feudal system he had served, pressed an accordion in his nine-year old son’s little hands and told him to play for the “warriors.” The rest, as they say, is history.
